There will be no strike for workers on mobile offshore units as Industri Energi and The Norwegian Shipowners Association came to an agreement with help from the State Mediator.

–It was vital for us that the rights of our members, which we have worked hard for over many years, was not weakened, says negotiation leader Asle Reime for Industri Energi.

The workers union always applies the Norwegian model and “Frontfaget” in wage determination.

–In this year’s settlement the employers has challenged the Norwegian model and the Frontfag model in a way we have not experienced in years. The distance under negotiation was so great we needed help from the State Mediator to get a settlement. We are now very pleased that we got an acceptable agreement in line with the Frontfag model, says Reime.

He stress that the oil and gas industry is going through a challenging period, and that it therefore was important for the parties to get a responsible settlement.

The parties came to an agreement Wednesday 22th of June. At Tuesday 24thof May 2016 there was a break in negotiations between Industri Energi and The Norwegian Shipowners Association on the mobile units agreement. 5000 Industri Energi members are covered by the agreement.
