Over 300 oil service employees are involved in a strike after mediation failed. – We strike because Norwegian Oil and gas did not show any willingness to meet our moderate demands, says department leader Ommund Stokka of Industri Energi.
– Norwegian Oil and gas inflicts a completely unnecessary strike by enforcing principles, rather than willing to hold any negotiations or bargaining, says Ommund Stokka.
– The employers wanted to push us to accept the Safe result. This will increase the differences between the operator / drilling / catering dramatically. This we can never accept. Industri Energi believes that all oil workers are equal.
He states that Industri Energi cannot accept that a small federation, Safe with 600 members should dictate terms accepted for 6000 Industri Energi members on the oil service agreement.

Possible escalations
– In the first place we will take out a limited number of members, but it is possible escalation of the strike may become necessary, says Einar Johannessen, union secretary with responsibility for the oil service agreement in Industri Energi. The strike shall begin at 07:00 on Wednesday 21st September. Those of our members who have been notified that they are affected by the strike are requested to adhere to the agreed plan set out for reductions of activity.
